.The Newbury Police Department will be hosting an Internet Safety presentation and forum for parents of Newbury Elementary students.  The presentation is intended to educate parents about current trends in social media. It will include a wide range of social media programs that children are using today such as KIK Messenger, Snap Chat, Instagram, and Oovoo.  Additionally, other safety concerns, such as privacy when taking Smart Phone pictures and other social networking (Xbox Live and PlayStation, etc.) will be covered.
The presentation will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 6:30 PM in the Newbury Elementary School Auditorium located at 63 Hanover Street, Newbury Massachusetts.
The presenter, Detective Aaron Wojtkowski, works for the Newbury Police Department and has been in Law Enforcement for 23 years. Currently, he is assigned to the Newbury Police Department Detective Division. He investigates all types of criminal complaints in addition to computer crime incidents. He is an affiliate member of the Massachusetts Internet Crimes against Children Taskforce as well as the Police Prosecutor for the Town of Newbury.
Assisting with the presentation will be Officer John Lucey.  Officer Lucey serves as the School Resource Officer for the Town of Newbury and has worked closely with parents and school administrators dealing with issues of school safety within the community.
